DIPLOMA IN FASHION MERCHANDISING AND PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY (FMPT)

Programme Overview
The philosophy of this programme is to develop professionals to effectively deal with changing management and technical needs of the industry in the areas of manufacturing and business of the fashion industry. It is envisaged that the graduating students will be capable to participate actively in formulating strategy for specific organisation's goals and objectives in the area of production and merchandising.
This two-year undergraduate programme will provide you with a firm grounding in fashion production and merchandising concepts, principles and skills.
With this qualification, you will be adequately prepared for positions at the level of a production executive, production manager in merchandising or production functions in fashion or garment industry. You will be able to assist or support your seniors in order management, production coordination, production management, sourcing etc
Programme Structure
The programme is divided into four semesters, each of 21 weeks. The first three semesters foster in you progressively the knowledge and application from across eight key areas: textiles, fashion, pattern-making and construction, garment manufacture, merchandising and marketing, production management, business management, quality. You will also develop communications and computing skills as well as be exposed to merchandising and quality management. In the final semester you will spend considerable time in industry, on alive shop-floor and then complete an industry project.
The industry-based independent Integrated Project offers you the platform to integrate all your acquired learning in Levels One and Two, and produce a body of work that displays evidence of holistic application and professional presentation.
The final Diploma project which will be prepared by the students will be based on a relevant problem area. Conduct in depth research, assimulate, analyse and interpret data collected, provide innovative and practical solutions and present your Diploma project in front of a special jury.
